[Translate to Englisch:] Gilmore Partner club concept – Achieve more together!

[Translate to Englisch:]  »Gilmore Partner club concept« is the name of the co-operative project involving the five neighbouring clubs GC Bruchsal, GC Sinsheim, Baden Golf & Country Club Tiefenbach, GC Rheintal Oftersheim and GC Hohenhardter Hof Wiesloch-Baiertal, which was taken over by Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in the autumn of 2012.

Initial situation

What initialised the project is the realisation that, unlike the large metropolitan areas around Cologne/ Düsseldorf, Berlin or Hamburg, the golf regions of North Baden suffer a geographical disadvantage due to rural infrastructure. In addition, Junior golf faces fierce competition from other sports which have been recognised as accepted  sports for young people for a long time.

The overwhelming majority of golfers play golf for recreation and for the social aspects of the game – as do children and young people who were introduced to the sport through their parents.  The number of children who wish to play golf competitively is too small, as is their level of skill, to participate across the board in a competition system.

Objective

The aim of the project, named after the mascot of the St. Leon-Rot Youth Support, is to raise the number of junior golf players considerably in the North Baden region and to significantly improve their game skills. In addition, the co-operation among the partner clubs is to be further developed so that the region of North Baden can become an attractive sporting region for young sportsmen and women.

With this goal in mind, the clubs have agreed to support one another with regard to training and competition opportunities in order to create more incentive for young golfers to improve their game and to set up more competitive teams. The focus of the joint project is currently on those players between the ages of 8 and 12, and will be widened to include those up to 18 in the near future.
